Emergency Eye Care in Tazewell and Lebanon

Serving southwest Virginia

Eye emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time, and neither should your care. While the ER may seem like the first stop, many eye-related issues are better treated by an optometrist and often result in a referral anyway.

At ClearSight EyeCare, we offer prompt, expert emergency eye care in Tazewell and Lebanon so you can be seen quickly and get the care your situation requires.

If our office is closed and you can’t reach us, please visit your nearest emergency room.

When should you see us for urgent eye care?

Some symptoms are obvious, while others are easy to dismiss. If you experience any of the following, don’t wait to see an emergency eye doctor:

  • Sudden vision loss or blurred vision
  • Eye pain or discomfort
  • Redness or swelling
  • Flashes of light or a sudden increase in eye floaters
  • A foreign object stuck in the eye
  • Chemical exposure
  • Eye trauma or injury

What to do in an eye emergency

While you’re waiting to be seen, these steps can help protect your eye and prevent further irritation or injury:

              • Call ahead — Give us a quick call so we can prepare and get you seen efficiently.
              • Don’t rub your eyes — This can make things worse, especially if there’s a foreign object or injury involved.
              • Rinse with water — If you’ve had chemical exposure, gently flush your eyes with cool water for at least 15 minutes.
              • Apply a cold compress — For swelling or trauma, use a clean cold compress and avoid pressing directly on the eye.
              • Skip the OTC drops — Not all eye drops are appropriate for every situation; hold off until one of our eye doctors can assess you.
              • Have someone else drive — If your vision is affected or you’re in pain, it’s safest to let someone else take the wheel.

                                        We treat more than emergencies
